|Three Musical Cities, One Outstanding Festival|
Rhapsody! Festival Offers Exceptional Musical Experience
Classical Movements' 6th annual Rhapsody! International Music Festival in July 2007 was a joy for all who participated. The 12-day festival for children's choruses was led by distinguished Guest Conductor Joan Gregoryk in stunning venues throughout three cities which possess a wealth of historical musical importance - Vienna, Salzburg and Prague.
Participating choirs included the Hong Kong Children's Choir, Le Vocalise from Singapore, the Milwaukee Children's Choir, the Red Rose Children's Choir of Lake County, Illinois and Children's Choir Radost-Prague. Festival audiences were treated to individual as well as joint choir performances in such breathtaking venues as St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, St. Andrä Church in Salzburg, St. Simone and Judah Church and St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. The Festival Finale concert at the grand Smetana Hall in Prague allowed the young musicians the opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra - I Virtuosi di Praga.
Guest Conductor for the 2008 Rhapsody! International Music Festival is Francisco Núńez, a talented composer, conductor, and leading music educator. Classical Movements is also pleased to announce our future Rhapsody! Guest Conductor line-up, which includes Joan Gregoryk for Rhapsody! 2009 (July 23-August 3) and Dr. Janet Galván for Rhapsody! 2010 (July 15-26).
Rhapsody! Festivals are distinguished among children's music festivals for the standard of quality exacted upon all aspects of the festival - from the excellence in musicality among participating choirs and the assurance that each ensemble is allowed ample opportunity to showcase their individual expertise; to the premiere performance venues with large, appreciative audiences; to top-caliber guest conductors leading exceptional workshops and massed choir performances.
We invite leading children's (treble) choirs to apply for participation in Rhapsody! International Music Festival. Give your young musicians the opportunity for an international musical experience they will never forget. Please visit our Rhapsody! section for more information.
